ESA is currently exploring the following themes, and aims to expand this list:

Asteroid/Moon mining in-situ resource utilisation
In-situ resource utilisation (ISRU) concerns the exploitation of the lunar or asteroid resources enabling the in-situ supply of materials needed for building habitats and potentially empowering human beings to perform activities in space. This activity might enable human life in extreme environments with limited resources.

Space for physically challenged people
The suggestion is to involve potential stakeholders in investing their efforts in exploring what space can do for physically challenged people. It will support social inclusion and provide technological spin-offs improving their lives. Last but not least, it will be inspiring for humanity.

Cyber security
One of the greatest issues facing businesses is cyber security and the risk of data breaches and hacks. No industry sector is immune and the implications for financial security and reputation are substantial. Several incidents in this domain have highlighted why businesses should prioritise enterprise security and take corporate governance seriously.

Mobility (autonomous vehicles, drones)
Make cars as environmentally friendly as possible, safer, or more autonomous. Mobility will change radically in the coming decades. Smart and autonomous vehicles will reshape the concept of transportation. New European entrepreneurs should be part of this change by fostering innovative technologies.
