Installing ECOS and getting started
ECOS is reserved for ESA bidders. Before you can use ECOS you must register as an ESA bidder.
To install ECOS on your computer, you need to contact the ECOS Help Desk (firstname.lastname@example.org).
You will receive an email providing you with all the necessary instructions to download the installation files, to install the application and to activate it. If not yet issued, a 4-digit ECOS specific company code will also be provided.
ECOS runs only under a Windows Operating system.
ECOS version 5 is compatible with Windows XP, 7 and 8.
It is recommended to run the application on a computer with an Intel Core i5 or better processor.
Your system must have sufficient central memory and disk space available.
We recommend using an SSD drive instead of an HDD drive to improve your ECOS experience (which is true for any application that you are running on your PC/laptop).
The video training will require about 900 MB disk space.
We also recommend using a large screen (23 inches or larger) to comfortably see the large tables that are typically generated when dealing with the financial breakdown.
Once ECOS has been installed, we recommend you to tailor your configuration. In particular you may want to create your own rate file.
For first-time users or if you have not used ECOS that often in the past, a self-training manual is available on EMITS under the Software Packages link, to guide you.
Integrated Help is also available in the application itself.
Finally, regular training sessions are organised in ESTEC.
