On 20–22 September, ESA opened its doors to welcome a record 1200 people from industry attending Industry Space Days 2016 at ESA’s Technology Centre ESTEC in Noordwijk, the Netherlands.
Some 760 companies from 35 countries, including almost 600 SMEs, participated in about 11 000 pre-arranged business meetings.
An exhibition hall with 113 stands provided additional opportunities for companies to talk with potential customers.
Eric Morel de Westgaver, ESA’s Director of Industry, Procurement and Legal Services commented: “This event facilitated an open dialogue between European small and medium-sized companies, representatives of the major space industries and agencies.
“This sharing of knowledge and ideas, translates into solutions for customers of industry which is key to the long-term success of European space.”
This is the sixth Industry Space Days, a biennial event organised by ESA’s SME Office.
Jens Kauffmann, Head of the SME Office, remarked: "A 40% increase in participation compared to the previous edition in 2014 shows the relevance of this event for the space industry and in particular for small and medium-sized enterprises."
