On 13 November, ESA will hold its second workshop on REACH – the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals – at its Headquarters in Paris, France.

The workshop in 2017 covered REACH regulation and its impact on launch vehicles. This year’s edition will extend to the space sector and beyond, to explore the following questions:

  • What are the latest REACH regulations impacting the space sector?
  • How is the space sector adapting to increasing European regulation and what are the current challenges?
  • How are other sectors managing this regulation in their specific domain?
  • How will REACH regulation evolve?
  • REACH regulation in space transportation: critical technologies, status of present and future programmes
  • How does the space sector take this opportunity for innovating in new technologies?
  • How will REACH impact the relation between space and society?

The workshop will address these questions through speakers from the space sector – ESA, France’s CNES space agency, space industry (ArianeGroup), and non-space sectors – the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), the European Defence Agency, and automotives.

As ECHA is the agency that issues the REACH regulation for the European Commission, this event presents a good opportunity to ask them questions.

For those unable to travel to this event, there will be a possibility to connect via Webex.

Register for this free workshop by 9 November by visiting: https://indico.esa.int/event/268/
