    Social Security and Pensions

    Proba-V monitors African Sahel

ESA has a comprehensive social security scheme that covers staff members worldwide during their appointment with the Agency, covering sickness, maternity, accident and disability.

Under certain conditions coverage may also be extended to the dependent spouse and children of staff members. Staff retiring at ESA's standard retirement age of 63 continue to be covered by the scheme.

The staff pension scheme accrues at 2% of basic annual salary and is activated after 10 years of service. Staff members leaving the Agency before the completion of 10 years’ service receive a leaving allowance.
