Social security and pensions
ESA has a comprehensive social security scheme that covers staff members during their appointment with the Agency, covering sickness, maternity, accident and disablement.
Under certain conditions coverage may also be extended to the dependent spouse and children of staff members. Staff retiring at ESA's standard retirement age of 62 continue to be covered by the scheme.
The staff pension scheme accrues at 2% of basic annual salary and is activated after 10 years of service. Staff members leaving the Agency before the completion of 10 year’s service receive a leaving allowance.
