ESA and the European Interparliamentary Space Conference (EISC) are proud to launch the 'Space for Sustainability' Award for European students and young professionals who have made significant space-related contributions to sustainable development in our society.

EISC is a forum where members of parliaments of European states meet to coordinate their activities related to space. In 2012, the EISC decided to establish with ESA an award that would cover all aspects of how space contributes to sustainable development in our society. The 'Space for Sustainability' Award aims to raise awareness of the issues and enrich debate about the links between the challenges of space and sustainable development in this century.

Ideas for projects from entrants under the age of 30 will be assessed by a high-level jury and the most innovative project will be announced during the October plenary session of EISC. The winners will be invited to visit Europe's Spaceport at Kourou, French Guiana, on the occasion of a launch.

Submissions should be made before 17 May 2013. More details on how to apply, click here.
