Prof. Elisabeth Back Impallomeni

Elisabeth Back Impallomeni, Professor Emerita of International law at the University of Padua, passed away on 28 June 2018. She was a sincere friend, that we will miss profoundly. As prominent Member of the ECSL Board, where she seated uninterruptedly since 2006, she gave a remarkable contribution to our activities, working with energy and enthusiasm, never missing to comply with her commitments.

We have lost one of the most active and eminent space law colleagues, a distinguished lawyer with many scientific contributions, and a committed teacher, loved by her many students and pupils, always ready to give sound recommendations to the young scholars that wanted to pursue their carriers in space law.  Long after her “retirement”, la professoressa continued to work tirelessly on space law. We were used to meeting her at every international or national event concerning space law, from the sessions of the COPUOS in Vienna, to the IAC's yearly congresses.  She was involved in many charitable causes and organisations.

We will always remember her profound sense to be part of the international community of space lawyers, her extroverted personality and her joy of life.
