Arctic Space and Technology Summit - 9 May 2017
The ECSL is pleased to announce the Arctic Space and Technology Summit which will be taking place in Helsinki, Finland on 9 May 2017. The ECSL/ESA is co-organising this event along with Tekes, Space Finland, the Association of Finnish Defence and Aerospace Industries, the Finnish Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment, Reaktor and Bird & Bird. Small Satellites Tech, Business & Regulatory Industry Workshop - 13 April 2017
The Tech, Business & Regulatory Industry Workshop was established in 2016 as a means of bringing together a variety of stakeholders from different aspects of the space industry to exchange on the technology, business and legal/regulatory aspects of a particular topic.
The 2017 workshop will focus on small satellites and in particular the developments taking place in the context of the Dutch space sector. The ECSL will be co-organising this workshop together with the International Institute of Air and Space Law (IIASL) at Leiden University, and ISIS – Innovative Solutions In Space B.V. We are pleased to have the support of the Netherlands Space Society (NVR) and SpaceNed as sponsors of the workshop.

Norwegian NPOC Event - Space Law & Policy Seminar in Oslo - 17 February 2017
The Norwegian NPOC - the Norwegian Space Centre (NSC) - and the ECSL will be co-organising a space law & policy seminar on 17 February 2017 at the offices of the NSC in Oslo, Norway. This will mark the inaugural ECSL event of the Norwegian NPOC and will be an opportunity for industry, academia, government and other interested stakeholders to have an introduction to space law and engage in discussion on some current trends like small satellites. 5th Manfred Lachs International Conference on Global Space Governance and the UN 2030 Agenda - Montreal, QC, Canada - 5 to 6 May 2017

Earth Observation Sympsoium in Graz, Austria - 31 May to 1 June 2017
The ECSL is glad to support a symposium being organised by the Competence Centre for Space Law and Space Policy at the University of Graz, Austria from 31 May to 1 June 2017. This symposium will focus on the topic of trends and challenges with regards to satellite-based Earth observation. Speakers include legal experts in the field and representatives from institutions such as the European Space Agency, the European Space Policy Institute, academia and the private sector. Latin America/Polish Air and Space Law Conference in Warsaw, Poland - 21 to 23 June 2017
The ECSL is supporting a 3-day conference being organised between the University of Lazarski and the Latin American Association for Air and Space Law (ALADA - Asociación Lation Americana de Derecho Aeronáutico y Espacial). Export Control and International Trade Law Workshop - French NPOC - 21 and 22 November 2016, Caen, France

ECSL Events in Glasgow - April 2016
The ECSL will be organising a NewSpace Tech, Business & Regulatory Industry Workshop on 26th April 2016. This will be taking place at the University of Strathclyde who will also be the host of the 2016 European Rounds of the Manfred Lachs Moot Court Competition. The competition will be held from 27th - 29th April 2016.
Young Lawyers' Symposium - 17th March 2016, Paris
In an effort to increase the opportunities available for young lawyers - students and professionals - in the field of space law and policy, the ECSL will be hosting its inaugural Young Lawyers' Symposium on 17th March at ESA HQ in Paris. After a high number of abstracts submitted, 12 have been selected for presentation at this event. The topics to be addressed range from data issues, mega-constellations, ESA industrial policy, natural resources in outer space, institutional frameworks and the status of personnel in space.
Eduational Outreach Programme - 26th February 2016
On 26th February, the ECSL will welcome law students from the University of Caen to the HQ of the European Space Agency in Paris. In pursuit of its objective to promote space law while at the same time reinforcing its ties with the host of the 2015 Summer Course, students will attend lectures given by lawyers from the Agency on topics ranging from space law, the legal framework relating to the ISS to the institutional law aspects of international organisations like employment law and privileges and immunities.
ECSL-UK NPOC Regulatory and Legal Workshop, London
Together with Bird & Bird LLP, the Satellite Finance Network and Access Partnership, the ECSL is organising a Regulatory & Legal Workshop on 4th December 2015 in London. The ECSL is delighted to be collaborating with the UK National Point of Contact in this event which will look a wide variety of issues, such as the regulation of small satellites, insurance and space debris.
