    ESA SP-1320 GIOVE Experimentation Results

    In preparation for the launch of the first Galileo In-orbit Validation (IOV) satellites in 2011, and the progress towards the deployment of Full Operational Capability starting in late 2012, the GIOVE mission demonstrated how Galileo would work in the space environment.

    In the years since the launch of GIOVE-A in 2005 and GIOVE-B in 2008, the accumulated results of in-orbit and ground experimentation have confirmed the maturity of the most critical technologies, the validity of the analytical models and ESA’s ability to meet the challenges of ensuring the performance of the Galileo system. GIOVE has exceeded all expectations.
