Sentinel-2 is a high-resolution optical Earth observation mission developed by ESA within the Global Monitoring for Environment and Security (GMES) programme. It is a system of two polar-orbiting satellites that will provide data and applications for operational land monitoring, emergency response and security services.

This report provides an overview of the mission, including the technical concept, image quality and operational applications.
