How to get to the ESTEC Open Day 2015
Coming to the ESTEC Open Day? We recommend public transport. If you would prefer to come by car, see below:
Getting to the ESTEC Open Day, Sunday 4 October is easy. From Leiden Central Station to ESTEC is only 25 minutes by bus. The bus stops right in front of the entrance.
There are four buses per hour (buses 30 and 31) throughout the day. Alternatively you could take bus nr 90 from The Hague Central, which stops at the 'Schorpioen' bus stop. To get from this bus stop to ESTEC is only a five minute walk.
You can plan your trip to the ESTEC Open Day by clicking on the 9292 logo below. Fill in your departure address, the date (Sunday 4 October) and preferred time of departure and arrival. You will immediately receive public transport travel advice from door to door. You will also see an estimate of cost.
Travelling by car and parking
There are five free parking locations with free shuttle buses to and from ESTEC.
Parking areas 1, 2, 2a, 3, 4
Parking 1:
Noordwijk: Gooweg; car park Zilveren Kruis;
Route from the A44 junction: Voorhout, Noordwijk, Oegstgeest Noord (junction 6). Follow signs to Noordwijk. Follow N444 until you come to traffic lights upon reaching Noordwijk. Go right (toward Noordwijk aan Zee / P-Strand). After 200 metres the carpark will be on your right.
If this carpark is full, you can continue driving to car park 2/2a.
Parking 2:
Noordwijk: De Northgo sports complex, Johanna van Hoornstraat 4
Route from the A44 junction: Voorhout, Noordwijk, Oegstgeest Noord (junction 6). Follow signs to Noordwijk. When reaching Noordwijk (At the big crossroads with traffic lights), go straight( Van der Mortelstraat). At the first roundabout (Shell gas station to the right) go right (Duinwetering) at your right side is the sports complex (De Northgo) with the carpark next to it.
Parking 2a:
Noordwijk: Northgo College, Duinwetering 107.
Follow the route for Parking 2. A near 100 metres furtherone, you see the Northgo college with parking 2a at your left. To catch the bus from Brouwer to ESA-ESTEC, just walk 100 metres back to the Northgo sports complex.
Parking 3:
Katwijk: car park ‘Noordduinen’; Noordduinseweg
From Amsterdam:
Follow the A4/A44 to Den Haag, take the Leiden/Katwijk/Duinrell junction, follow the N206 to Katwijk, take the Katwijk-Noord, 't Heen junction. Follow until the parking sign at the big Noordduinen carpark.
From Rotterdam
Follow the A4 to Amsterdam, take the Leiden/Zoeterwoude junction (junction 8), follow the N206 to Katwijk, take the N206 Katwijk-Noord, 't Heen junction. At the end of the junction go right. Follow toward the parking sign at the big Noordduinen carpark.
Parking 4:
Noordwijk: Industrial area ’s Gravendijck
Route from the A44 junction: Voorhout, Noordwijk, Oegstgeest Noord (junction 6). Follow signs to Noordwijk. Follow N444 until you come to traffic lights upon reaching Noordwijk. Go right (toward Noordwijk Binnen/Centrum). Follow the road till the third round-about (Herenweg/Zwarteweg). Go right (Zwarteweg) and follow the yellow signs towards the industrial area. From here, you can walk to the main entrance ESA-ESTEC. For people who have difficulty walking, a bus from Brouwer stops at ’s Gravendijckplein and the t-junction Huygensstraat/Eisingastraat
Attention!
Parking at the industrial area is not allowed everywhere. Traffic Wardens from the firm Traffic Support will give instructions on where cars can be parked and where not. Instructions of them must be followed (legal obligation). If necessary they will refer you to one of the other parking areas from.
During the weekend from 2 till 5 October, the N206 will be closed between the N444 and the N441 for traffic coming from the north. Traffic will be guided via the N444, which is the same junction towards parking areas 1, 2/2a and Wantveld (see pick up point boulevard Noordwijk) Going back home after the visit towards the north via the N206 (Sassenheim/Lisse) is possible; when going to Leiden/The Hague a detour must be followed (via Rijnsburg). If you are visiting the bustling boulevard of Noordwijk before coming to the ESTEC Open Day, you can also use a special shuttle service that runs from carpark Wantveld to ESTEC.
Route from the A44 junction: Voorhout, Noordwijk, Oegstgeest Noord (junction 6). Follow signs to Noordwijk. When reaching Noordwijk (At the big crossroad with traffic lights), go straight (Van der Mortelstraat). At the first roundabout (Shell gas station to the right) go straight (Van Panhuisstraat) to the next roundabout (Quarles Van Uffordstraat) and carry on straight until the end of the street, then turn right and after approximately 300 metres you will see carpark Wantveld. Bear in mind there is no free parking available in Noordwijk aan Zee! The municipality of Noordwijk will place special signs indicating the ESA/ESTEC pick up point.
