Presentation to industry of ESA activities on Near Earth Objects Space Mission Preparation
Following recommendations by various parties, including the Council of Europe, the OECD and the UK government task force on NEOs, the European Space Agency has supported industrial and academic research studies on the field of Near Earth Objects (NEOs) in the context of the General Studies Programme (GSP) and in close cooperation with the Science Directorate.
All the past activities have enabled ESA to define the most meaningful way in which space means could contribute to a mitigation of the NEO's threat. The intended ITT “Phase A Study of a Near Earth Object (NEO) Mission" constitutes the logical next step for ESA on the way to propose a mission to ESA’s Member States and to the international community.
The Agency would like to report on the results of recent internal studies and activities in this field and in addition address the Agency’s requirements regarding the intended Invitation To Tender. Potential Tenderers will be allowed to raise, after the Agency’s presentation, all relevant questions, time permitting.
This Industry Briefing will be organised at ESTEC:

Please note that only one Briefing will be organised by the Agency. Attendance will be limited to a maximum of 30 participants. Tenderers wishing to participate are therefore invited to inform the Agency by returning the Acknowledgement of Receipt attached as an Annex to the Special Conditions of Tender for the aforementioned ITT, which will be published in mid-September in EMITS (http://emits.esa.int).
