ESID: The Interactive reservoir of all products and capabilities in the European space sector
The European Space Industry Directory (ESID) is an on-line database providing information on European and Canadian Space companies and their products.
It can be accessed from the ESA Industry Web Site (industry.esa.int) and it contains information about:
- the space products, technologies and services developed within the member and associate member states of ESA.
- the companies and organisations developing these products, technologies and services.
The ESID keeps growing steadily and covers the full spectrum of space activities, from ground segment to payloads, from scientific laboratories to large companies.
The Directory relies on a database where products and companies are stored, and has powerful capabilities of search and reporting. It is conceived as a practical tool to allow industry to find the right partners for their space activities (in ESA, national and commercial programmes).
The information within the ESID database is provided by the companies themselves, on a voluntary basis. This information is validated and then stored in the database. In order to be included in the Directory, companies must have actual activities specific or closely related to space (aviation activities are not eligible) and a significant presence in at least one of the ESA member and associate member states. Only entities qualified as potential bidders of ESA, and having an ESABD code can figure in the ESID. The system will provide these entities with the possibility to update their data and include additional products, interactively, through the EMITS system.
The European Industry Directory has been developed during the year 2000, as an upgrading of the European Space Technology catalogue, accessible through EMITS, and will be available shortly.
