Supporting an innovative and competitive Europe
Challenges today and over the next decade require that ESA’s underpinning value and commitment be focused towards innovation and industry’s competitiveness in world markets. European industry relies on commercial and civil sector revenues more than any of its competitors, making the issue of innovation and competitiveness critical to maintain a sustainable European industry.
To this end, the programme proposals will consolidate European industrial capabilities in space by sustaining investments in technology, in particular technology for satellite telecommunications, which represent the biggest commercial space market worldwide, and turning guaranteed access to space into a factor of competitiveness and fostering the creation and development of new applications and services.
