Ariadna 2011/01 Call for Proposals
ESA's Advanced Concepts Team (www.esa.int/act) just released the first Call for Proposals in 2011 on four advanced research topics, open to all universities and research institutes. Ariadna studies (www.esa.int/ariadna) are particularly well suited for PECS universities since they are deliberately targeting research communities not necessarily yet linked to space or ESA in any way.
This specific call (www.esa.int/gsp/ACT/ariadna/OpenCalls.htm) is targeting university researchers interested to join the ACT for some months of collaborative joint research on the following four topics:
- Analytical perturbative theories of motion in highly inhomogeneous gravitational fields
- Probabilistic Computing for Efficient Robotic Vision in Space
- ‘Scent of Science’: Autonomous Source Localization for Exploration
- ‘Analogue Transformational Acoustic’: An alternative theoretical framework for acoustic metamaterials
Universities are not required to have in depths knowledge of space science and technology, which will be provided by the team where needed.

Ariadna is a scheme developed for collaborative research with universities on advanced research topics which is administratively streamlined so that the focus is almost entirely only on the specific topics.
