Antonio Fabrizi

Antonio Fabrizi was appointed Director of Launchers in 2003, and took up duty on 16 June 2003.

After completing his studies at the University in Rome 'La Sapienza', Italy, where he graduated in mechanical engineering, he began work with BPD. Between 1975 and 1989 he held several positions, and was responsible for feasibility studies on Ariane boosters.

In 1990 he was appointed Commercial Manager at Fiat Spazio in charge of developing new initiatives. Then in 1993 he returned to BPD to become head of the Space Transportation Systems Business Unit. From 1997 to 1999, Mr Fabrizi carried out the same responsibilities for FiatAvio’s Space Business Unit where his duties included responsibility for the Cyclone and Vega programmes. In 2000 he became Vice President of FiatAvio’s Space Business Unit, with responsibility for all space activities.

Antonio Fabrizi has held several directorships of companies, including Europropulsion, ELV, Regulus and Arianespace.

In his post as Director of Launchers, Mr Fabrizi is responsible for implementing the new role of Europe in the launcher sector, and says "Europe’s future role is based on three cornerstones; these are: a European fleet of launchers, restructuring the launcher sector with ESA playing in full its management role and preparing for the future."
