A new look at deep space
Good science requires curiosity and an open mind: American Lyman Spitzer investigated the highest energies in the Universe and was the first to promote an actual astronomical observatory in space; ESA's Michael Perryman was fond of mathematical riddles, and he now applies this skill to the challenge of mapping the galaxy.
