Hans Georg Mockel
Director of HFI
Hans Georg Mockel took up duty as ESA Director of Human Resources, Facility Management and Informatics (D/HFI) on 1 June 2011.
Hans Georg Mockel was previously Executive Vice President of Finance and Administration at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany, where he was one of the key initiators with regard to the professionalisation of management and administrative processes.
Before joining the Goethe University in 2004, he served Fraport (owner and operator of Frankfurt Airport) for more than 12 years. As Senior Vice President, he built and led its Corporate Strategy Unit and later became responsible for its Airport Shareholdings and Alliances. He graduated from the University of Munich (Law) and from Harvard University (Public Administration).
The Directorate of Human Resources, Facility Management and Informatics (D/HFI) is focused on internal management operations.
