Still time to send your drawing into space with Envisat!
ESA is inviting young people aged between 8 and 12 to take part in a competition to draw a flag to represent the Earth. The grand winner will fly to Kourou, in French Guiana, to see the launch of Envisat, the new advanced Earth observation satellite. As Envisat is ready for launch at the end of July, we’re extending the deadline to 30 April.
The Ariane-5 launcher that will carry Envisat into space will bear the Envisat logo and the winning picture of the Earth flag. One finalist will be selected from each of the 15 ESA Member States and from Canada, a contributor to the Envisat programme. From these 16 the grand winner will be chosen to travel to French Guiana, together with their parents, to watch the launch of Envisat from the European spaceport in Kourou.
All 16 finalists will be invited, each accompanied by a parent, to the International Air Show at Le Bourget in Paris on 16/17 June, where the lucky winner will be announced! But no-one will go home empty-handed. Each of the 16 finalists will receive a computer and colour printer.
