Mamagoose pyjamas have been designed to prevent cot deaths and use technology originally designed for space. The user interface of the monitoring unit is easy for parents to understand and can be reset to continue monitoring after an alarm. The processor in the monitoring unit is programmed with an alarm algorithm, which scans the respiration patterns to detect dangerous situations and to give an alarm. The selective memory records data before and after the alarm. This system can be connected to a PC, which analyses and stores the data. The more data collected, the more situations can be programmed and fewer false alarms are generated. This transfer of space technology is part of the ESA Technology Transfer Programme.
