This animation comprises two images overlaid on a picture of Prague, as depicted by Google Earth. The overlaid images were acquired by the Phased Array type L-band Synthetic Aperture Radar (PALSAR) sensor onboard Japan’s Advanced Land Observing Satellite (ALOS) satellite. They show the city of Prague and its surroundings (colours vary by region). The first image differentiates the urban and forested areas (white and green, respectively) from the darker background, which contains mostly crops. The second image gives a more comprehensive classification of the nature of the surface: urban areas appear in red, forests appear in light and dark green and crops and grasslands appear in yellow. These two images were provided by JAXA and processed with ESA POLSARPRO, courtesy of Prof. E. Pottier IETR Rennes France.
