Meteosat Second Generation (MSG) provide very high resolution weather images every 15 minutes, resulting in a huge data flow from space to Earth. These data feed the super computers of the National Meteorological Services, contributing to the accuracy of the weather forecasts. They are also relayed to the research institutes for specific uses. EUMETSAT controls the MSG satellites from its centre in Darmstadt, Germany, where the raw data from space are processed and retransmitted to users worldwide via the satellite.
