ESA's history of microprocessor development in terms of millions of instructions per second (MIPS), from the MA31750 developed in 1992 to the ERC32 three-chipset version in 1995, followed by the single-chip ERC32 four years later, then the LEON-2 FT (commercially known as the AT697) in 2005, with the Next Generation Microprocessor (NGMP) LEON-4 due out in 2015.
