The Restless Leg Syndrome is best known for its overwhelming and often unpleasant urge to move the legs while at rest. In severe cases, it can be very distressing and disrupt the victim’s daily activities. According to the UK´s National Health Service, as many as 1 in 10 people are affected at some point in their life, although not all severely. ESA Business Incubation Centre start-up Relegs has developed a device to relieve symptoms from the Restless Legs Syndrome. The innovative device needs to be placed on the calf, where it activates sensory nerve fibres. This provides counter stimulation to the brain, therewith overriding the unpleasant sensations and the urge to move the legs.
