Since December ESA astronaut Paolo Nespoli is aboard the International Space Station for a long duration mission. Space is a very hostile environment for the human body but since Gagarin's first flight we have learnt a lot on how men and women are affected by zero G and this knowledge is very important to prepare for further human activities out there. This story explains what we have learned so that astronauts can smoothly participate in space missions.
