Peake Season Summer at the National Space Centre in the UK
From 12 July to 31 August the National Space Centre in Leicester will be challenging visitors to "Train with Tim", to see if they have what it takes to become an astronaut, just like ESA Astronaut Tim Peake.
The National Space Centre is the UK’s largest visitor attraction dedicated to space and space exploration, welcoming around a quarter of a million visitors each year since its opening in June 2001.
Tim Peake is currently training for his long-duration mission to the International Space Station, to be launched at the end of November 2015. He will be the first British ESA astronaut to visit the Space Station.
With help from the European Space Agency and the UK Space Agency, the National Space Centre has been working with Tim to put him through a number of tests to create an astronaut standard for visitors to try to achieve.
Train with Tim
Visitors can test their skills with four training activity challenges, exploring core skills that are vital when becoming an astronaut. They can then record their results and compare them against the standard set by Tim.
While visiting the National Space Centre visitors can also drop into the ISS Science Zone and enjoy the interactive activities replicating real science which is currently being carried out on the International Space Station. Mission Commanders will be on hand to explain what life in space will really be like for Tim.
