ESA is teaming up again with the Galileo Teacher Training Programme (GTTP) to organise the third in a series of training workshops for science teachers.

The 2012 workshop, aimed at teachers of students between 11 and 19 years of age, will be held from 14 to 17 February at ESA’s European Space Astronomy Centre, near Madrid, Spain.

Refresh existing lessons and develop new skills

Participants at this workshop will have the chance to learn about innovative tools and methods that use space science and astronomy to engage students in the sciences. In addition to networking with their peers from across Europe, participants will have the opportunity to gain new skills that will enhance their teaching methods and refresh existing lessons.

Teachers attending the workshop will participate in a diverse programme of activities that includes sessions about how to use data from ESA missions, tutorials in using image processing software, examples of classroom applications using robotic telescopes, presentations from ESA scientists, and much more. The programme is designed to familiarise participants with the material presented to enable them to adapt it to the requirements of their national curricula.
