  • Radius: 3.8 m
  • Max. radial acceleration: 6 g at outer perimeter
  • 38rpm
  • Max. onset rate: 0.2 g/s (0à6 g in 30 seconds)
  • Number and type of nacelles: 4 multifunctional gondolas
  • Radius of nacelles adaptable within 200 cm (also during centrifugation)
  • Centrifugation and examination of 4 test subjects simultaneously
  • Subject height: 150 cm - 210 cm
  • Payload: 150 kg per nacelle (4x); 100 kg per payload bay (2x)

Exercises during centrifugation are possible using either the bicycle ergometer or the ESA sledge mounted on the centrifuge. For the 2018 campaign of SYT-HE only the ESA sledge system is available. During centrifugation the sledge offers linear movements in horizontal, axial and lateral planes (within limits). Students can propose experiments including physical exercises like squats or hops on the sledge (see figures 1-3) during centrifugation at 1g referred to the subject´s centre of mass as well as measurements while the subject lies in supine position on the sledge. To compare the results from the SAHC, control experiments without centrifugation on earth´s gravity conditions can be planned as well in standing position.
