The Orbit flatfloor is a 9 m by 4.8 m flat area with an overall deviation of less than 0.8 (± 0.1) mm and a maximum inclination of < 0.3 mm/m. It is equipped with a fixed installation of a VICON Motion Capture Camera System that provides ground truth localisation data of the subjects tracked, which can be a floating object, robotic arm or interfacing structure.

The floor is used to test close-range rendezvous, docking, berthing of free-floating objects and landing on low-gravity bodies, but with the intention to also offer it for other applications both internally and to industry down the track.
