This year will see ESA playing a major role in a series of public relations activities both in Europe and elsewhere. The following events and rendezvous can be pencilled in for 1999.

January
12/01 Paris, France. ESA Head Office : Press breakfast with Director General.
11-22/01 STS-95 crew trip : Press conferences in Spain (11-15/01) and at ESA ESRIN (18/01), EAC (19/01), HQ (20/01), ESTEC (22/01). Dates and places to be confirmed.

February
03/02 Kourou, French Guiana. Europe's Spaceport : Ariane-4 launch (V 116).
17/02 Bordeaux, France. Aerospatiale/Bordeaux: "ARD back in Europe" media event.
22/02 Baikonur, Kazakhstan. ESA astronaut Jean-Pierre Haigneré lifts off on CNES Perseus mission to Mir where he will spend 99 days.
22/02 Frascati, Italy. ESA/ESRIN: Media day.
t.b.d. Darmstadt, Germany. ESA/ESOC: Press briefing on XMM and ground segment.

Dates of certain events, especially those related to launches, depend on various parameters such as readiness of spacecraft and launcher, and thus remain t.b.d. (to be determined) for some time. All Ariane launch dates will be confirmed by Arianespace.
