Cosmic music

A stunning new show, called ‘Space Station Earth’, featuring images shot by astronauts on the International Space Station, with music by composer Ilan Eshkeri, will make its world premiere on the opening night of the festival, supported by an orchestra, a choir and a band.

The premier will take place at 20:30 at the festival’s main stage in the city centre on 13 August.

Using the latest in audio-visual techniques, this unique live experience, will transport the audience into the emotional world of the astronauts so they can feel what the astronauts do and appreciate our planet and the Universe around us as they do.

ESA astronaut Tim Peake said, “Ilan has been able to capture the emotions of spaceflight, bring them down to Earth and make them accessible to all of us. Space Station Earth, with its soundtrack and imagery makes me feel like I am back on the International Space Station again.”
