Schoolchildren interview ESA astronaut Frank De Winne
In the lead-up to his six-month OasISS mission, a group of ten schoolchildren were invited to interview ESA astronaut Frank De Winne at ESA's research and technology centre, ESTEC, in Noordwijk, the Netherlands.
Their school, the Openbare Basisschool Prins Willem Alexander in Beusichem, the Netherlands, is participating in the Delta Researcher Schools Project through which teachers are actively involved in bringing human spaceflight into the school curriculum.
The Directorate of Human Spaceflight Education Team arranged for the schoolchildren to ask some of the usual and also not so usual questions to the ESA astronaut who becomes the first European commander of the Station from October 2009.
The video shows some of the forty questions that De Winne took time to answer. Later, the children had lunch with De Winne at ESTEC's visitor centre, Space Expo. There he also met with the rest of their classmates who were visiting for the day and taking part in the astronaut class.
The questions ranged from "Is time the same in space as it is on Earth?" to "What does space food taste like?"
