Atlantis lands at Kennedy Space Center

    21 September 2006

US Space Shuttle Atlantis and her STS-115 crew safely landed today at Kennedy's Space Center in Florida at 12:21 CEST. During their stay in space, the crew successfully resumed construction of the International Space Station.

A new crew is now in place on the ISS. Launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on 18 September, the Expedition 14 crew onboard Soyuz TMA9 docked with the ISS yesterday at 07:21 CEST. At 10:34 CEST the crew, together with spaceflight participant Anousheh Ansari, were welcomed by the Expedition 13 crew.

ESA astronaut Thomas Reiter has now joined Expedition 14, and will remain on the ISS until December. The other two memebers of Expedition 13 are scheduled to return to Earth with Ansari on 28 September 2006.
