    Maxim Surayev

    Russian cosmonaut Maxim Suraev

    ISS Expedition 21/22 Flight Engineer

    Born on 24 May 1972 he is married and has one daughter. Surayev is a Major in the Russian Air Force and Test Cosmonaut of the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Centre.

    In 1994, he graduated with honours from the Kachin Air Force Pilot School as a pilot-fighter and in 1998 from the Zhukovski Air Force Academy as pilot-engineer-researcher.

    He was selected as a test-cosmonaut candidate of the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Centre Cosmonaut Office in December 1997.

    Surayev is scheduled to launch to the ISS on Soyuz TMA-16 on 30 September together with NASA astronaut Jeffrey Williams.
