How to use the "mISSion possible" website

General structure: units, lessons and activities
The pages three different topics on the general theme of space: “being an astronaut”, “being weightless”, “the International Space Station (ISS)”.

Each of these topics is dealt with in different lessons. For example: the topic “being weightless” includes two lessons: “what is gravity?” and “what is weightlessness?”

The structure of each lesson is as follows:

• The lesson itself contains roughly 10 lines of text with a photograph. Children can get additional information by clicking on the button “Do you want to know more?”

   

• Various related activities in different disciplines to be done in the classroom

   

• Quizzes at the end of each lesson. Pupils answer questions about the lesson

Classroom presentation
For each theme, the lessons and the activities can be introduced separately. Nevertheless, it is recommended to first introduce the lesson before trying the related activities.

There are different ways of presenting this material:

• You can base a complete project on one particular topic. For example, you could first work on the lesson “Being an astronaut” and then all related activities in the different disciplines.

   

• You can include specific activities in your lesson plan in certain disciplines. To find out which activities are proposed per discipline and per level, please refer to the “Teacher’s. guide to the lessons and activities” webpage

levels of difficulty
The activities have different levels of difficulty:

• 1 star for children between 6 and 8
• 2 stars for children between 8 and 10
• 3 stars for children between 10 and 12

Colour coding and symbols
Colour coding and icons will help remind children which topic they are on.

For example: the headers of the lessons and activities related to “International Space Station (ISS)” are green with pink writing.

Print
Each section (lesson, activity…) can be printed by clicking on the icon. The pages have been designed so that teachers can photocopy them and distribute them directly to the class.
