    Arianespace Flight 157

Ariane 10 tonne on the launch pad
    29 November 2002

An anomaly occurred during the final phase of the synchronized sequence of the Ariane 5 countdown. The countdown procedure was automatically stopped before triggering the ignition sequence of the main stage's Vulcain engine.

The two satellites, HotBird 7 and Stentor, the launch vehicle and all the ground equipment are in a safe mode.

Further information will be given on Friday morning during apress conference held in Kourou at 10:30 a.m. and carried on a multiplex telephone call in Evry (14:30 CET).
