Last call to workshop on promoting satellite navigation applications

Satellite navigation has far reaching applications
Satellite navigation has far reaching applications
    15 April 2005

A one-day workshop on Promoting Satellite Navigation Applications will be held at the European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC), Noordwijk, The Netherlands on 26 April 2005.

It will provide an open forum to satellite navigation application developers, users, universities, public authorities, private operators and agencies representatives to discuss what tools and facilities are needed for the successful development and testing of applications for the European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service (EGNOS) and Galileo.

The workshop is organised by the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Galileo Joint Undertaking (GJU). The ultimate objective is to build up an overview of the current situation, identify future needs and encourage networking of tools and facilities.

    Results of the online forums

The results of the five online forums that have been running since mid-March will be presented to the audience at the workshop and participants will have the opportunity to discuss the findings.

    Workshop

The workshop will be organised around a single plenary stream of sessions with presentations and open discussions. Presentations during the workshop will include a summary of the tools and facilities needed within each of the topics identified, as discussed in the web forum. Findings of the online forums will be presented by the moderators and be open to discussion. The workshop will close with general conclusions and final remarks by ESA and the GJU on lessons learned from the workshop and possible ways forward.
