MERIS data users meet at ESA/ESRIN in Italy
Envisat’s MERIS instrument currently returns a wealth of data on Earth’s oceans, land and clouds to more than 350 scientific teams worldwide. Now comes a valuable opportunity to get first-hand information on its latest results, and learn more about the many calibration and validation activities carried out during the last year and a half.
The MERIS Users Workshop is taking place from Monday 10 November to Thursday 13 November at ESA’s ESRIN centre at Frascati, near Rome, and some places remain available for booking.
Investigators will be presenting their latest results from ongoing research using MERIS data – across the fields of ocean colour, land applications and atmospheric science.
Attendees can also learn more about the most recent processing algorithms and the quality of the products derived from them, be trained in the programming of the BEAM (Basic Envisat AATSR and MERIS) toolbox software used for MERIS data processing, and take home with them the latest version along with sample products.
They will also be able to gain understanding of the Envisat user services and MERIS data distribution activities and constraints, express their views on MERIS products, user services and data distribution and take part in discussions on how to improve the interaction between ESA and the scientific user community.
They can also recommend actions to be taken for the development of new algorithms and products in future.
The workshop is open to ESA Principal Investigators and co-investigators, scientists and students working in the field of remote sensing of ocean colour in open-ocean and coastal waters, land applications and atmospheric sciences, and to representatives from national, European and international space agencies and value adding industry.
