Second event organized at ESTEC to review the history and status of the ESA IP Cores services, the actual offer of ESA synthesisable VHDL and SystemC IP Cores and other options and initiatives available in Europe, and to generate ideas on future IP Core needs for the space IC community.

AMICSA 2012 (August 2012)
The Fourth International Workshop on Analog and Mixed-Signal Integrated Circuits for Space Applications (AMICSA) has taken place on 27-28 August 2012, in ESA/ESTEC, Noordwijk, The Netherlands.
SEFUW: SpacE FPGA Users Workshop (6-7 November 2012)
The aim of this workshop is to address experiences in several topics related to FPGAs for space.
Presentations from the major design groups (Primes) took place, as well as updates from the major FPGA vendors for space: ATMEL, MICROSEMI and XILINX.

AMICSA 2010 (5-8 September 2010)
ESA is organizing the Third International Workshop on Analog and Mixed-Signal Integrated Circuits for Space Applications (AMICSA). The Workshop will be held from September 5 to September 7 in ESTEC, The Netherlands. This 3rd edition will include tutorials on mixed signal design for space.
Atmel FPGA User Group Workshop (3 March 2010 @ ESTEC)
ATMEL has proven the principle of the Radiation Hardened By Design (RHBD) FPGA after its first experience on the AT40FEL device with the support of European Space Agencies. Through the use of a RHBD FPGA, users do not have to take into account any difficult mitigation techniques. By designing its FPGA as a commercial FPGA, users will get a radiation hardened device without any lengthy qualification or final processing and verification at the end. TID (Total Ionising Dose) and SEE (Single Event Effects) are guaranteed by design.
ATMEL is currently introducing its 280 kgates ATF280F device and is designing Multi Chip Modules (MCMs) and a new 450 kgates ATFS450 FPGA on a 130nm SOI (Silicon-On-Insulator) process.
American FPGA competitors have the ability to support their software development on a large worldwide consumer basis, however, ATMEL space FPGAs have difficulties in reaching the same levels of quality and ease of use.
To improve the offering and to enhance the IDS software tools, CNES has launched an ATMEL FPGA User Group whose main objectives are to collect all improvements requests, define priorities and exchange user experiences.
The FPGA User’s Group Web is based on a public website where the relevant information and files related to ATMEL FPGA families can be found. In addition to such information already available through the normal channels (ATMEL main website, protected site, CD-ROMs…), the User Group web will also include a Forum where users can post questions and answers. The forum will shortly be open to all users.
Network-on-Chip Round table (17-18 September, 2009 @ ESTEC)
In collaboration with CNES, ESA is hosting a first round table on NoC technology, to bring together researchers and industry experiences in using NoC technology for various application domains.The large jump from single core to multi-core, and now many-core processors, always looking for the optimal balance between local and global timings inside deep-submicron ICs remains still a challenge for spaceborne avionics, however it is a rapidly developing reality in terrestrial applications

Workshop on Fault Injection & Fault Tolerance of reprogrammable FPGAs (September 11th, 2009 @ ESTEC)
ESA has been supporting several FI/FT analysis tools, like STAR/RoRA, FLIPPER, FT-UNSHADES, INFAULT and there are other tools like SUSANNA that address the insertion and/or evaluation of radiation hardening accomplished by-design to be used inside reprogrammable FPGAs.
This workshop is a first get together of FPGA designers and groups that have developed and used these FI/FT tools. Tools will be presented, including some demos, to show how they can aid designers to develop and quantify design rad hardness. Feedback on users' needs and recent experiences are also expected
AMICSA 2008 (August/September 2008)
The Faculty of Sciences and Technology of Nova University of Lisbon (FCT-UNL) and the European Space Agency (ESA) are organizing the Second International Workshop on Analog and Mixed-Signal Integrated Circuits for Space Applications (AMICSA). The Workshop will be held from August 31 to September 2 in Cascais, Portugal.
The purpose of this workshop is to provide an international forum for the presentation and discussion of recent advances in analogue and mixed-signal VLSI design techniques and technologies for space applications.
AMICSA 2006 (Oct. 2006)
The Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH) and the European Space Agency (ESA) have organised the First International Workshop on Analog and Mixed-Signal Integrated Circuits for Space Applications (AMICSA). The Workshop was held on 2 and 3 October at DUTH in Xanthi, Greece.

ESA Workshop on Microelectronics for Satellite Applications (Dec. 1996)
The purpose of this workshop was to highlight a selected number of space applications building on and relying on the usage of microelectronics, ranging from ASICs (Application Specific Integrated Circuits) to ASSPs (Application Specific Standard Products, i.e. ASICs to be used by many users) and standard components.
