What innovations does Software Produce Assurance involve?
As previously seen, Software Product Assurance is more involved in processes and methods than specific technologies. Nevertheless, it has to cope with the progress of technologies in the areas such as processors, links, operating systems, design blocks and so on. Indeed, methods and processes are also evolving to take into account the progress of technologies.
Through its transverse and large involvement in programs, ESA Software Product Assurance contributes to the spreading of new 'best practices' up to their state of the art standardisation in space.
So there has been less a revolution in the domain of Software Product Assurance than a smooth transition from steady verification of of tailored processes. This is now reflected in the last update of the ECSS Software Product Assurance standards for space and the associated series of handbooks guiding mission teams.
