What services does the Electromagnetic Compatibility and Magneto-static Laboratory offer?
Although tasks requested for ESA projects are generally given priority the Electromagnetic Compatibility and Magneto-static Laboratory does provide services for other European space programmes and companies, including SMEs (although not in competition with commercial laboratories) that meet the criteria described below.
A candidate customer can request a quotation to perform a test by contacting Laboratory manager Ph. Laget (contact details below). To qualify, the candidate customer (or end customer they are acting for) must be a person or body under the jurisdiction of an ESA Member State. The project in question must correspond to standard ESA Directorate of Technical and Quality Management research and development – space oriented work such as equipment testing –and must have a peaceful purpose.
The Laboratory provides the following services:
Precompliance EMC test during breadboarding phase of equipment, small instruments and subsystems
High flexibility study and performance of customised tests meeting the specific EMC needs of projects
Magneto-static measurements at unit level and perm/deperm for magnetic cleanliness
Novel power supply topology validations in support of new power conversion techniques.
Performance assessment of new testing techniques developed in the frame of R&D (eg double-bulk current injection).
Preparation and validation of methodologies and techniques (eg ESD test setup methods).
EMC assessment of new technologies (eg PLC and spread-spectrum techniques for integration of information and power).
