Optical components are shaped to very high precision typically in the nm range. In order to verify the surface and shape errors the wave-front error is measured by means of a state-of-the art interferometer. This facility also provides the capability to verify the end-to-end optical performance of small  optical systems such as afocal or three mirror anastigmatic imagers and telescopes.
