There was a big sunspot on the Sun last week, 23-28 September, 2003.

The sunspot, part of a region known as 'Active Region 10464', was almost as wide as three planet Earths lined up in a row.

This means it's big enough to see without magnification.

CAUTION: Never look directly at the Sun without suitable eye protection!
