On 29 June, the main actors at the CSG, Europe’s Spaceport, met at ESA Headquarters in Paris to design the future of the launch base. An essential pillar of Europe’s launcher sector, the Spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana, is undergoing a process of reorganisation, in accordance with the mandate given in May 2003 by the ESA Council at Ministerial level.

This workshop has gathered, for the second time this year, representatives of ESA, CNES, Arianespace and EADS-ST as well as more than 70 representatives of the European industries present at the launch base. Together they have established the main lines of a new organisation designed to increase efficiency and ensure that the Spaceport is able to meet future demands.

The reorganisation process will lead to an industrial consultation, scheduled to take place in the fourth quarter of this year, to ensure that the new organisation will be in place from the beginning of 2005.
