Astronauts in deep space will need to be able to perform quality medical diagnoses without external help – depending on their position, communications with experts may involve many minutes or delay or be cut off entirely. The Computer Assisted Medical Diagnosis and Surgery System (CAMDASS) is a headmounted ‘augmented reality’ system that overlays cue cards and advice on the wearer’s view to guide them into performing an accurate diagnosis.
