    ESA Business Incubation Centres

    ESA BIC Darmstadt

ESA Business Incubation Centre (ESA BIC) Darmstadt is located in the direct vicinity of the European Space Operations Centre, ESOC.

Considering the long-standing expertise of ESA’s Navigation Office and its contracting companies in the field of satellite navigation the Agency decided, under its business incubation initiative, together with the regional government of Hessen, Germany, to establish a business incubation centre for Galileo-related navigation applications: the Centrum für Satellitennavigation Hessen GmbH (cesah).

Ground facilities at ESOC support ESA and partner missions
    ESOC, Darmstadt

The centre has teamed up with renowned research institutions, IT and consultancy firms, and key Galileo-user industries, all located in the Rhine-Main metropolitan area.

Studies have shown that Galileo, Europe’s future satellite navigation system, will help to develop an enormous global market for highly accurate navigation and positioning solutions.

ESA BIC Darmstadt offers business start-up support as well as technical expertise in different space related areas, and in particular in satellite navigation, data systems, software systems and navigation test environments.

    Managing ESA BIC Darmstadt

Centrum für Satellitennavigation Hessen (Cesah) GmbH is contracted to run the ESA BIC Darmstadt and is your contact point for getting support for innovative applications in the area of satellite navigation.

A major focus with regard to opening up new areas of application is in the field of transport - aviation, maritime navigation, road and rail traffic - but also in geodesy and agriculture.

An accurate position determination using using satellite navigation is just as important as providing a high-precision time measurement which can be used for synchronization of telecommunication networks, measuring energy workload of power suppliers, accurate timing of complex transactions in the banking, finance and insurance industry.
