An asteroid has come to say Hello!
An asteroid was coming to pay us a close visit... but not too close! On the 15th of February 2013 the asteroid 2012 DA14 has passed safely at a distance of 27,700 km from our planet giving space enthusiasts and scientists a great opportunity to learn more about these building blocks of our Solar System.
Asteroid 2012 DA14 was discovered by the La Sagra Sky Survey operated by the Astronomical Observatory of Mallorca in Spain on Feb. 23, 2012, with the support of the ESA's SSA programme.
NASA, one of ESA's partner in the AIDA studies, has hold a media teleconference (available online) on Thursday, February 7 at 20:00 CET to discuss about this important event.
