Video report: ‘Partnerships for Better Innovation Support’ KIS4SAT seminar

The seminar took place in the Palais des Académies in Brussels
    11 February 2011

Business professionals met last month in Brussels at the ‘Partnerships for Better Innovation Support’ seminar to present and discuss best cases on innovation support and stimulation of high growth potential ventures in Europe.

The KIS4SAT event was organised by the European Business & Innovation Centre Network (EBN) in partnership with the European Commission and ESA.

It brought together representatives from innovation providers in Europe, business incubation centres, public agencies and institutions and entrepreneurs from start-up companies in Europe. Representatives from ESA Technology Transfer Programme Office and its Business Incubation Centre initiative participated.

KIS4SAT is part of the Europe INNOVA ‘Knowledge Intensive Services (KIS) Innovation Platform’ initiative aiming to accelerate the service innovations in Europe. The initiative focuses on the development and testing of new or better innovation support mechanisms for innovative small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), in particular in technological and industrial fields.

KIS4SAT focus on innovation support platforms needed to stimulate the launch and development of potentially high growth knowledge-intensive ventures in the field of satellite downstream services

This is done by stimulating cross fertilisation of expertise among 20 regional clusters in Europe and encouraging networking and partnership between various research, finance, space industry and regional organisations.

The following video report presents interviews with some of the key speakers of the ‘Partnerships for Better Innovation Support’ seminar:

    ESA Business Incubation Centres

ESA’s business incubation is one of the major initiatives of the Technology Transfer Programme Office (TTPO). As part of its endeavour to encourage the transfer and commercialisation of space technologies, BICs have been set up in the Netherlands, in Germany, in the UK, in Belgium and in Italy.

The centres support selected entrepreneurs with comprehensive commercial and technical assistance to help them to start up businesses that use space technology in non-space industrial, scientific and commercial fields.

ESA’s Technology Transfer Programme Office (TTPO)

The TTPO’s main mission is to facilitate the use of space technology and space systems for non-space applications and to demonstrate the benefit of the European space programme to European citizens.

The office is responsible for defining the overall approach and strategy for the transfer of space technologies, including the incubation of start-up companies and their funding. For more information, please contact:
