Did you know? ESA BIC start-ups in Madrid use drones to fight fires, calibrate airport and check train rails. Some also offer solutions to spot objects from space imaging and develop aids for people with visual problems, while others develop LED solar simulators, manufacture sensors to measure pollution, produce naval unmanned vehicles and hybrid systems for aviation.

Visit ESA BIC Madrid at the B2B international exhibition Global Robot Expo (GR-EX) on innovation, robotics and related technologies in Madrid 8th - 9th of May.

All of them have improved their products or services thanks to incorporating space technologies or using satellite data, and been supported by ESA Business Incubation Centre Madrid Region – ESA BIC Madrid.

The thirteen start-ups have graduated following an up to two years business incubation period at ESA BIC Madrid and will receive a diploma and a trophy for successfully completing incubation, at the First ESA BIC Madrid Alumni Award Ceremony to take place Global Robot Expo.

The ceremony is a great opportunity to learn more about the start-ups and their solutions, meet the entrepreneurs, to discover the opportunities ESA BIC Madrid offers to entrepreneurs and start-ups, to meet the ESA BIC incubation partners and representatives from ESA and the Madrid Government.

The venue will take place at IFEMA, Global Robot Expo, Pavilion 6 (Escenario GR–EX Robotics&Solutions) at 12:30 and will last one hour, and will include:

  • Opening by madri+d manager Federico Moran
  • Video presentation of the ESA BIC Madrid Region
  • Importance of the ESA BIC program in Europe and the Community of Madrid by ESA representatives ESA Spokesperson in Spain Javier Ventura-Traveset and ESA Technology Transfer Office Country Manager Nuria Hernández Alfageme
  • Handover of the awards to the graduated ESA BIC Madrid start-up companies by representatives of the Community of Madrid, ESA, madri+d and COIT, and with ESA BIC Madrid Region manager.
  • Speech by a representative of the graduated companies.

ESA BIC Madrid Region will be present at the whole fair, with the participation of eight ESA BIC Madrid Region start-up companies, who will show their prototypes and will perform product demonstrations.

Visitors can meet the following companies: Canard Drones, Sol Galaxy, Airelectronics, Purón, Cedrión, Quasar, UTW and Automated Devices.

On the second day of the fair, Thursday 9 May, the ESA BIC start-ups will expose their projects to investors in an elevator pitch session.

ESA BIC Madrid Region is also looking for new start-ups to join the programme in the next calls with deadlines 10 June and 4 November.
